History

1955

• Founded as Paymaster Cheque-Writers Canada – the Canadian distributor of the Paymaster Cheque-Writer opens for business at 229 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario.

Paymaster markets the machine that mechanically generates character face serrations upon a cheque that safeguards against alteration attempts on negotiable documents to Canadian businesses, banks, trust companies and credit unions.

1958

• The concept of cheque protection is embraced by Canadian businesses and Paymaster Cheque-Writers opens its second office in Montreal, Quebec.

1962

• May 8 – The Telegram, Toronto publishes an article “It’s A Forgery” featuring Paymaster Canada’s founder, Robert Warner.

1966

• Paymaster Cheque-Writers Canada opens another office in Calgary, Alberta to help serve Western Canada.

1968

• July’s Issue of Toronto Life Magazine publishes “Canada’s Fastest Growing Crime.”

1975-1985

• Offices in Victoria, Vancouver, Winnipeg Edmonton and Dartmouth are opened.

1985

• The Paymaster family expands to include other protection products such as high end shredders and disintegrators for the expanding market of document and multimedia destruction.

• Paymaster partners with Hitachi to bring fax machines to the Canadian market.

• Another Paymaster office is opened in the nation’s capital – Ottawa, Ontario.

1993

• Paymaster Cheque-Writers launches its first software application – secure cheque-issuing software.


• Paymaster changes its corporate name to Paystation Inc.

 

• Paystation partners with EBA to supply EBA shredders to Canadian government and businesses.

1995

• Paystation/Paymaster celebrates 40 years of excellence.

• Paystation partners with Security Engineered Machinery (SEM), the world leader in document destruction equipment.

2005

• Paystation and Founder M. Robert Warner mark 50 years in business and are honored by distinguished guests such as RBC, CSIS, Paymaster Technologies and the RCMP at its gala celebration in Toronto.

2006

• Paystation partners with the Canadian Police Association in Ottawa to form the CPA-Robert Warner Memorial Fund. The fund is established to provide a one-time immediate financial payment to the families of police officers killed in the line of duty.

• iDNA™ Cheques are launched for online ordering and contain the most comprehensive and latest security breakthrough in cheque security in more than 20 years.

2007

• Paystation rebrands itself and launches a new corporate logo and website to reflect its new strategic direction and comprehensive product line.

• Paystation partners with Hague Print, from the UK, to bring to Canada, their unique and secure software solutions designed to streamline processing and increase security.

2009-2010

• Paystation enters into the arena of cheque imaging and processing by partnering with VSoft Corporation of Atlanta, GA, and Panini North America.

2010

• Company founder Mr. Robert Warner passes away leaving behind a rich legacy.

2011

• Paystation is acquired by long-time President, Arun Srivastava.

• Paystation continues their progress into cheque imaging by partnering with Burroughs Payment Systems (formerly UNISYS).

• Paystation launches its new, social media-rich, website.
